Imperial College London is hosting a conference June 25-26, 2012 for papers intended for the special issue of Research Policy entitled “Open Innovation: New Insights and Evidence.” For more information on the special issue and the conference, see the call for papers.

This page describes the process for formatting and submitting your paper to the conference. (Submissions to the special issue will be handled via the Elsevier system).

Format of Submission

Authors have two choices for submitting their paper:

  1. A complete manuscript that conforms to the formatting and length standards as a Research Policy journal article. The manuscript should include a complete title page, with the author and affiliations; please include the abstract on the title page.
  2. An extended abstract not to exceed 8 pages single spaced and 4500 words (for the entire document), consisting of

All papers require an 125-word abstract for inclusion in the conference program.

Acceptance decisions will be made by the guest editors, but no feedback will be provided until after the conference (for accepted papers only).

Consistent with the submission policies of Research Policy, papers submitted to the conference must not be under review (or forthcoming or published) at any journal at the time of submission and presentation. Each participant in the conference may present only one paper.

Submission Process

We recommend that you review the submission form well in advance of the deadline so that you have answers to questions about your co-authors.

To submit a paper for the special issue conference:

  1. Create a PDF file containing the manuscript or extended abstract. The document should be formatted for A4 paper rather than US Letter. (If you cannot create a PDF file, then submit a .doc or .rtf file).
  2. Name the file Author.pdf where “Author” is the name of the intended presenting author.
  3. Enter the necessary information regarding your submission using the supplied web form.
  4. After completing the form, email the paper to [email].

All submissions to the conference must be fully completed by 11:59 p.m. EDT on April 15, 2012.

Authors will notified by May 1 as to whether or not their submission has been accepted. Due to the limited time period for making acceptance decisions, we are sorry to say that we cannot answer inquiries before the decisions are announced.

If you make a mistake, submit a new entry on the web form and send the revised paper with the name Author2.pdf etc.
